The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures that will be implemented for the 50^th annual lighting of the Washington Monument.  The event will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021, rain or shine, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in historic Mount Vernon.

In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to through traffic with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

• West Mt. Vernon Place from N. Charles to Cathedral Streets – 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2021
• East Mt. Vernon Place from N. Charles to St. Paul Streets – Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 6:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.
• N. Charles Street from E. Centre to E. Madison Streets – Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 6:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.
• E. Centre Street (south side only) from Cathedral to N. Charles Streets – Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 6:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians attending the event and are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes.
