Revised: New Traffic Pattern Along the Broening Highway Bridge Will Now Begin on or About August 24th
Tuesday Aug 17th, 2021
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that a new traffic pattern will be implemented along the Broening Highway Bridge over Colgate Creek, as bridge demolition and replacement work begins.
Starting at approximately 6:00 p.m. on or about Tuesday, August 24, 2021, two-way traffic will be implemented along the southern span of the Broening Highway Bridge, weather permitting. The northern span will be closed to through traffic for at least 18 months, as the existing bridge is demolished and a new span is built.
In addition, left turns will not be permitted into the Port from westbound Broening Highway in order to prevent traffic backups along the bridge. Motorists traveling along westbound Broening Highway should follow posted detour signs for access to the Port during this phase of construction.
Variable message signs have been placed in the vicinity to notify motorists of the changing traffic pattern. Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
