Utility Work Will Soon Begin at Intersection of Wabash Avenue and W. Cold Spring Lane

Friday Nov 6th, 2020

Lane closures will be implemented for approximately nine months as sewer line is replaced

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that lane closures will soon be implemented at the intersection of Wabash Avenue and W. Cold Spring Lane for sewer line replacement work being performed by the Baltimore City Department of Public Works.

Starting at 9:00 a.m. on or about Monday, November 9, 2020, new traffic patterns will be installed in the vicinity of the Wabash Avenue/W. Cold Spring Lane intersection.  Lane closures will be implemented along northbound Wabash Avenue and westbound W. Cold Spring Lane.  The existing four lanes of travel along northbound Wabash Avenue will be reduced to one lane of through traffic, and the existing three travel lanes along westbound W. Cold Spring Lane will be reduced to a single lane of traffic.  To accommodate the new traffic patterns, traffic signals will be re-sequenced at this intersection.  During construction, residents will be able to board buses west of the train tracks as usual, and a new crosswalk will be added at the MTA exit onto W. Cold Spring Lane.

The new traffic patterns/lane closures at the intersection of Wabash Avenue and W. Cold Spring Lane are expected to remain in effect for approximately 9 months, as sewer line replacement work is completed.  The reduction of travel lanes along both Wabash Avenue and W. Cold Spring Lane will cause traffic congestion in this vicinity.  Motorists are encouraged to allow additional travel time and use alternate routes to avoid delays.

The sewer replacement work is a project of DPW’s Sanitary Sewer Consent Decree Program.
