Portion of Haven Street to Close in Early December for Underground Utility Work

Friday Nov 15th, 2019

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that a portion of Haven Street will soon close for underground utility work.

Starting on or about Monday, December 02, 2019, Haven Street will be closed to through traffic between Boston and O’Donnell Streets with detours in effect.   This closure of Haven Street will remain in effect for approximately 35 days, weather permitting.  Signs will be posted in the area to alert motorists of the closure and detour routes will be posted.

In addition to the Haven Street closure, intermittent traffic flagging operations may be implemented along Boston Street during this time.  Traffic flagging operations will occur along Boston Street between Haven and Eden Streets as needed during non-peak travel times while construction work progresses.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should plan ahead by allowing additional travel time, as flagging operations may cause delays along Boston Street.  Drivers should also be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Suggested Haven Street Detour / Truck Detour:

  • Southbound Haven Street traffic will be detoured left on Lombard Street, right on Ponca Street, right to continue on Ponca Street immediately after MTA lot, and right on Boston Street back to Haven Street.
  • Northbound Haven Street traffic will be detoured right onto Boston Street (and over the railroad crossing), left on Ponca Street, left on Lombard Street back to Haven Street.
