Traffic Modifications for the Flower Mart in Mount Vernon

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the traffic modifications that will be in effect for Flower Mart 2019.  The event will take place on Friday, May 03 and Saturday, May 04, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. each day in the heart of Mount Vernon.

In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to through traffic beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 02, 2019 until 12:00 a.m. on Monday, May 06, 2019:

• N. Charles Street from Centre to Read Streets
• Madison Street from St. Paul to Cathedral Streets
• Mt. Vernon Place from St. Paul to Cathedral to Streets

In addition, parking will be restricted in these areas from 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 02, 2019 until 12:00 a.m. on Monday, May 06, 2019.  Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced during this event for the safety of everyone.

Variable message signs will be placed in the area to alert motorists of the closures. Transportation Enforcement Officers (TEO’s) will be posted at critical locations to help facilitate the movement of traffic.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Traffic Modifications for the Fiesta 5K

On Saturday, May 04, 2019 traffic modifications will be in effect for the Fiesta 5K Run.  The event will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and kicks off from Market Place.

Participants will proceed south along Market Place, left on Pratt Street and right on President Street to the Katyn Statue.  Runners will turn right on Aliceanna Street past the Marriott to Lancaster Street, left on Caroline Street, right on Aliceanna Street, and right on Boston Street.  Participants will turn around at Wagner Street and follow Boston Street to left on Fleet Street, right on President Street, left on Lombard Street to finish along Market Place at the intersection of Water Street.

In preparation for the event, the following lane closures will be implemented on Saturday, May 04, 2019 from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.:

• Right lane of southbound President Street from Fayette to Lombard Streets  
• Double lane closure along westbound Lombard Street from President Street to Market Place
• Left lane and turn slots along northbound President Street from Fleet to Lombard Streets 
• Double lane closure along Pratt Street from Gay to President Streets 

In addition, one lane of travel will be coned off for participants along the race route.  During the event, Baltimore City Police & Transportation Enforcement Officers will be stationed along the race route to help facilitate the movement of traffic. Motorists should be advised that temporary traffic stops may be implemented for the safety of participants.

Traffic Modifications for the Kinetic Sculpture Race

On Saturday, May 04, 2019 the 21st annual Kinetic Sculpture Race will be held in Baltimore.  The race will begin and end at the American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) on Covington Street and kicks off at 9:30 a.m.  Participants will run the 15-mile course through the Inner Harbor and surrounding neighborhoods at the approximate times listed below:

• 8:00 – 9:30am Safety check and brake test at American Visionary Art Museum
• 9:30 – 10:00 Opening Ceremonies & start from AVAM onto Key Highway
• 10:03 – 10:20 Climb Battery Avenue into Federal Hill Park
• 10:15 – 11:30 Race down Riverside, Fort, Lawrence, Key Highway past AVAM around the Inner Harbor, President Street to Katyn Circle to Aliceanna & Boston Street
• 11:15 – 1:15pm Splashdown at Canton Waterfront Park
• 1:00 – 1:30 Race up Kenwood, right on Eastern, left on Linwood and into Patterson Park
• 1:15 – 3:15 Patterson Park Obstacle Course
• 3:30 – 4:45 Race down Lombard, Central, Eastern, Pier 5, Pratt, Light, Key Highway, Lawrence, Fort, Jackson, Clement, and Covington to the finish line at AVAM (rapid racers may finish as early as 3:30)
• 4:00 – 6:00 Post-Race Recovery (dinner for racers & volunteers)
• 6:00 – 7:00 Awards Ceremony at AVAM

During the event, Covington Street will be closed to through traffic between Key Highway and Cross Street from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. with parking restrictions in effect.  In addition, one lane of travel will be coned off for participants wherever possible along the race route.

Motorists traveling in these areas should be advised that temporary traffic stops may be implemented during the event for the safety of participants.  Commuters should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Traffic Modifications for the Port to Fort 5K

On Sunday, May 05, 2019 traffic modifications will be in effect for the Port to Fort 5K. The event will begin at the intersection of Fort Avenue and Whetstone Way, and kicks off at 8:30 a.m.

Participants will proceed west on Fort Avenue and turn left on Belt Street, left onto Randall Avenue, left on Webster Street, and right back onto Fort Avenue.  Runners will enter Fort McHenry to loop around the fort and exit back onto Fort Avenue to Whetstone Way to finish.

During the event, one lane of travel will be coned off for participants along the race route wherever possible.  Baltimore City Police & Transportation Enforcement Officers will be stationed along the route to help facilitate the movement of traffic. Citizens should be advised that temporary traffic stops may be implemented for the safety of participants.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Traffic Modifications for the March for Babies

On Sunday, May 05, 2019 traffic modifications will be in effect for the March for Babies sponsored by the March of Dimes.  The event will begin and end at the Canton Crossing Waterfront Parking Lot on S. Clinton Street and kicks off at 9:00 a.m.

Participants will exit the parking lot and turn left on S. Clinton Street, left on Boston Street, left into the Boston Street Pier Park, and right onto the waterfront promenade.  The march progresses right on Fells Street, right onto S. Ann Street, right on Aliceanna Street, then right onto Boston Street, and left on S. Clinton Street to finish.

During the event, one lane of travel will be coned off for participants along the march route wherever possible.  In addition, the following parking restrictions will be implemented on Sunday, May 05, 2019 from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.:

• West side of Clinton Street from the1^st Driveway to Boston Street
• South side of Boston Street from S. Clinton Street to Aliceanna Street
• South side of Aliceanna Street from Boston Street to S. Ann Street

Baltimore City Police & Transportation Enforcement Officers will be stationed along the route to help facilitate the movement of traffic. Motorists should be advised that temporary traffic stops may be implemented for the safety of participants.

Lombard Street Crane Operation

This Saturday, a portion of Lombard Street will temporarily close for a crane lift operation.  On Saturday, May 04, 2019 Lombard Street will be closed to through traffic between Greene and Penn Streets from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect.

Calvert Street Crane Operation

This Saturday, a portion of Calvert Street will temporarily close for a crane lift operation.  On Saturday, May 04, 2019 Calvert Street will be closed to through traffic between Chase and Biddle Streets from 4:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect.

Wilmington Street Crane Operation

This Saturday, a portion of Wilmington Street will temporarily close for a crane lift operation.  On Saturday, May 04, 2019 Wilmington Street will be closed to through traffic between Washington Boulevard and James Street from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect.

Curley Street Road Work

This Saturday, a portion of Curley Street will temporarily close for road work.  On Saturday, May 04, 2019 Curley Street will be closed to through traffic between Foster Avenue and Fleet Street from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect.
