Temporary Road Closures for the BSO’s Annual Gala Celebration

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the road closures that will be in effect for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s annual Gala Celebration which will be held on Saturday, September 09, 2017. 

In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to through traffic with parking prohibited and detours in effect:

Preston Street will be closed between Cathedral and Howard Streets starting at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 03, 2017 until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017.

Park Avenue will be closed between Howard and Cathedral Streets on Saturday, September 09, 2016 from 12:00 noon until 12:00 midnight.

Detour signs will be posted in the area.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Jones Falls Expressway Lane Closures

This Saturday, temporary lane closures will be implemented along the Jones Falls Expressway for maintenance work.  On Saturday, September 09, 2017, temporary left lane closures will be implemented along the northbound and southbound Jones Falls Expressway between Fayette Street and the county line from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Traffic Modifications for the Family Fun Homecoming Run/Walk

This Saturday, temporary lane closures will be implemented for the Family Fun Homecoming Run/Walk.  The event will be held on the grounds of New Psalmist Baptist Church and the Seton Business Park on Saturday, September 09, 2017 starting at 9:00 a.m.

During the event, one lane of travel will be coned off for participants along the race route wherever possible.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Traffic Modifications for the Run to Remember

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the traffic modifications in effect for the Run to Remember 11K/5K Mile Fun Run & Walk.  The event will begin on Pratt Street in front of the World Trade Center at 8:46 a.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017.

The 5K course will begin on Pratt Street at the intersection of Commerce Street.  Participants will proceed west on Pratt Street, left onto to Light Street, left on Key Highway, right on Webster Street, and right on E. Randall Street.  The course proceeds left on Johnson Street, right on E. Wells Street, right on Light Street and right on E. Fort Avenue.  Participants will turn left on Williams Street, right on Warren Avenue, and left into Federal Hill Park where they will finish the race.

The 11K race will also will begin on Pratt Street at the intersection of Commerce Street.  Participants will proceed west on Pratt Street, left onto to Light Street, left on Key Highway, right on Webster Street, and left on Fort Avenue to turnaround near Fort McHenry.  Runners will follow Fort Avenue back and turn left on Webster Street, right on E. Randall Street, left on Johnson Street, right on E. Wells Street, right on Light Street and left on W. Fort Avenue.  The course proceeds right on Race Street, left on Ostend Street, right on Russell Street, right on Hamburg Street, left on William Street and right on Warren Street to finish in Federal Hill Park.

In preparation for this event, one lane of travel will be coned off for participants along the race route wherever possible.  Traffic and pedestrians will be allowed to cross through periodic breaks in the race at various intersections throughout the morning. 

Citizens should be advised that temporary traffic stops will occur along the race route for the safety of participants.   Motorists traveling in the vicinity of the run should allow additional travel time in anticipation of this event and be on the watch for pedestrians.  The use of alternate routes is strongly encouraged to avoid delays.
