Bike Share

Monday May 9th, 2016

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation is proud to announce that the City’s bike share program will be launching Fall 2016. In partnership with Bewegen technologies and Corps Logistics, the Baltimore Bike Share Program will be an affordable, healthy, safe, and environmentally sustainable addition to Baltimore’s existing transportation network and will further connect our diverse communities by offering an active and innovative first/last-mile transportation option throughout the City. Visit our new Bikeshare website http://bmorebikeshare.com/

Phase I of the City’s program will include 50 bike share stations and 500 bicycles. The bike share fleet will include over 200 electric pedal-assist bikes, which will be the largest electric pedal-assist bike share system in the Western Hemisphere and the third largest globally. These ‘pedelec’ bikes provide extra assistance when riding and were chosen because they provide a smoother, easier, and more fun ride for all ages and abilities.  Electric pedal-assist bikes are the next phase of bike share technology, and the City of Baltimore is excited to launch a system that has the potential to transform how residents and visitors move about the City.

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation is currently in the process of engaging the community to determine station locations and pricing. If you wish to learn more, please visit bmorebikeshare.com to stay up to date on our progress as we work to launch this fall. Happy riding!
